I’d have done the same if I was naked: Bikini-clad policewoman collars thief

She was off duty and wearing a bikini but that didn’t stop police officer Mikaela Kellner from catching a suspected thief. The out-of-uniform officer leapt into action as she was sunbathing with three friends in a park in the Swedish capital Stockholm. They were being pestered by a homeless man selling newspapers and, when he finally moved away, they realised he had stolen a mobile phone. Ms Kellner, a policewoman for 11 years, ran after him and, with the help of her friend pinned him to the ground. “I did not hesitate. Had I been naked, I would have also intervened,“ she said.

I just acted on instinct and didn’t think about it so much until after we had pinned him down. When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realized that it probably looked pretty funny

The incident has caused a stir on social media after Ms Kellner posted a picture of the arrest on her Instagram account. She said: "I mainly just wanted to raise awareness of how cunning these people are, almost like magicians.” The thief also would not have realised that the super fit officer regularly works out at the gym and is a successful body builder. It is not the first time she has been in the public eye - In December, a video showing her doing parkour in her police uniform went viral after it was posted on Facebook.

There was no time, so I ran after him, maybe 15 meters or so. One of my friends is also a police officer, so we got hold of him. He tried to get away so we held onto him harder.
