iPad thieves arrested after celebratory selfie syncs to victim’s iCloud

This story is almost too good to be true. Two men arrested in Houston are accused of stealing an iPad and using it to take selfies that they unknowingly uploaded to the owner’s iCloud account. The men appeared in the photos displaying money they are also accused of taking from the victim. The iPad, other electronics and thousands of dollars were stolen from the victim’s truck on January 8. He later noticed his iCloud account had images of the men holding $100 bills. It seems the theives were only interested in the cash and dumped the stolen items behind a Starbucks. Little did they know that the iPad then connected to Starbucks Wi-Fi and automatically synced the snaps to the victim’s iCloud account. Once he realised, he used the power of social media to help authorities identify and track down the perpetrators. They’ve since been arrested.
