Monkeying around in space: astronaut Scott Kelly goes ape on the ISS

Astronauts Tim Peake and Scott Kelly have revealed that even on the International Space Station there is a time for a little monkeying around. ISS commander Scott Kelly has tweeted a video of himself and British astronaut Tim Peake going ‘ape’ in space. The video shows Kelly in full gorilla costume chasing Peake around the space station. Kelly said the two filmed the Benny Hill-style video to celebrate his imminent return to earth after almost a year in space.

Needed a little humor to lighten up a #YearInSpace. Go big, or go home. I think I’ll do both. SpaceApe.

Scott’s identical twin brother Mark, who was also a NASA astronaut, was the first to share the video. “Um, @StationCDRKelly, I thought you said you had things under control up there on @Space_Station? #ApeInSpace,” he wrote. The brothers are the only siblings to have travelled into space. Scott Kelly will return to Earth on March 1 after nearly a year. He launched to the space station in March 2014 and has been joined on his extra-long flight by Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko as part of an international experiment to study how the human body changes during an ultra-long spaceflight.
