Now we know why (and how) a piano got to the top of a mountain

The mystery only lasted a few days — hikers found the battered upright piano on a graffiti-scrawled concrete slab on the Topanga Lookout in the Santa Monica Mountains, California. Turns out, the piano was used for a music video by Seattle-based artist Rachel Wong. The cinematographer, Michael Flotron, says he and four others used a dolly and rope to haul the 160kg instrument a mile up the trail on Tuesday. He says that he’ll bring the piano down, if necessary, but people seem to like it there.
