Paris terror attacks: Third Bataclan gunman identified as French citizen

The third gunman involved in the terror attacks on Paris’ Bataclan music hall has been identified as a 23-year-old man from Strasbourg. Police sources quoted by AFP and Le Parisien say Foued Mohamed Aggad went to Syria with his brother and a group of friends at the end of 2013. The source said most of the others were arrested in spring last year when they returned to France, however Aggad stayed in Syria. The attacks on the Bataclan - during an Eagles of Death Metal concert on 13 November - left 90 dead.

What is important is that the investigation is progressing, that the accomplices are found out, that arrests happen.

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls

The Frenchman believed to have recruited them, Mourad Fares, is also under arrest. “This will all take time and in the face of the terrorist threat that is unfortunately here, we need to carry on with this work of tracking down terrorists because we are at war with radical Islam, with Daesh,” said French Prime Minister Manuel Valls. All the Nov. 13 attackers identified so far have been from France or Belgium, native French speakers who joined Islamic State extremists in Syria. The Bataclan attackers, who carried automatic weapons and wore suicide vests, were responsible for the worst of the carnage.
