Pregnant Marion Cotillard pledges love to partner as she shrugs off Pitt gossip

Marion Cotillard has announced she is pregnant as she tries to end speculation she had anything to do with the break up of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s marriage. The Oscar-winner, 41, said she had to speak out as rumours circulated over her relationship with Pitt, with whom she stars in World War II romantic thriller Allied. But in a statement on Instagram accompanied by a photo of a flying bird, Cotillard announced she was pregnant and stressed her commitment to long-term French boyfriend, Guillaume Canet, with whom she already has a five-year-old son. She called 43-year-old Canet “my love, my best friend, the only one that I need”. She also said she hoped Pitt, 52, and 41-year-old Jolie “find peace in this very tumultuous moment”.

To those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. This crafted conversation isn’t distressing.

Jolie shocked the showbiz world on Tuesday when she announced she was filing for divorce from Pitt after 12 years together and two years of marriage. French actress Cotillard, who won an Oscar for her performance as Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose in 2008, has been named in some reports as the reason behind the separation. But Cotillard said: “This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into.” She admitted she was “not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously” but said “as this situation is spiralling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up”.

And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery.
