Seven die, including 8yo boy and girl, 14, in US random shooting spree

At least seven people have been killed after a man reportedly drove around a US city randomly shooting people. Local media reported that an eight-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were among the dead and that a father and son had been shot dead at a car dealership. Another two people – including a nine-year-old child – were left critically injured after the shooting spree in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas said police were first called at around 7.50pm local time to an apartment building in Kalamazoo County where a woman had been shot many times.

The threat to the public is over. This is your worst nightmare when you have someone driving around killing people. There is usually a reason for this and hopefully after questioning the suspect we will know why.

Hours later officers were called to a Seelye Kia dealership, where two people had been shot dead and a third person shot and injured. Later, four people were killed in a Cracker Barrel restaurant car-park where the shooter reportedly opened fire on people sitting in their cars. A fifth person there was injured. A huge manhunt was launched and a man – described as a “strong suspect” – was later arrested.
