Trump’s lewd remarks would disqualify him from a job at a 7-Eleven, says Obama

Barack Obama has waded into Donald Trump, saying his coarse remarks about women would disqualify him from a job at a 7-Eleven convenience store. The U.S. president launched a stinging attack on the Republican nominee, who has tried to dismiss lewd comments recorded on a leaked tape as no more than “locker room banter”. Mr Obama told a rally for Democrat contender Hillary Clinton in North Carolina that you “just have to be a decent human being” to understand how offensive the remarks were. He added: “The guy says stuff nobody would find tolerable if they were applying for a job at 7-Eleven.”

Barack Obama on Mr Trump’s business acumen

Earlier, Mr Trump threatened to ramp up the rhetoric as he tweeted that “the shackles have been taken off me”. He then proceeded to unleash a series of tweets against his rivals within the GOP, including “our very weak and ineffective leader” House Speaker Paul Ryan and “the very foul mouthed” Arizona senator John McCain. The Trump campaign also rolled out a new ad targeting Mrs Clinton’s health, which has been under scrutiny since she abruptly departed a 9/11 memorial service at Ground Zero, and video emerged of her stumbling and needing to be helped by aides into her van.
