Chilling: Gunman targeted his victims with lunch invitation by text

Investigators have found that it wasn’t a coincidence that the five victims of Jaylen Fryberg’s shooting were sitting together—after searching the 15-year-old’s mobile and social media records, they say that he invited them to all sit together, making it easier for him to shoot them before he turned the gun on himself. The investigation could take months to complete, police have said, as a concrete motive hasn’t been established. Friends say the homecoming prince and well-liked athlete was upset over a girl.

Two of the five victims Fryberg shot have died. Of the three survivors, Nate Hatch is the only one who has shown signs of improvement. Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, 14, and Andrew Fryberg, 15, have been in critical condition since Friday’s shooting.
