Ex-French president Sarkozy ‘detained for questioning’ in graft probe

In an unprecedented move against a former French President, Nicolas Sarkozy was being held on Tuesday for questioning over suspected influence-peddling, a legal source said. Sarkozy arrived Tuesday to be quizzed by investigators at their offices in Nanterre, west of Paris, after his lawyer was held for questioning on Monday. Anti-corruption investigators can hold Sarkozy for questioning for up to 24 hours, with a possible extension of another day.
