Fan ejected from football game sends police 240 coconut doughnuts

A football fan sent 20 dozen coconut doughnuts to police officers as payback for being kicked out of a game. The disgruntled spectator, who was upset at his treatment after travelling from Los Angeles to the University of Wisconsin in Madison to watch the match, sent his gift with a note explaining he was grateful for the job done by police but not by his treatment. “This was meant as a harmless way to both show general gratitude for the job you do (which is awesome) but slight disdain for my treatment Saturday (which was not so awesome),” the man wrote. “Donuts are awesome, but coconut donuts are not so awesome.”

This was a teachable moment. If we knew more about his circumstances, we would have done things differently

The fan was upset that when he arrived at the game between Badgers play Northwestern at Camp Randall Stadium at the University of Wisconsin he was given a seat among the students rather than with his friends. When he tried to join them, he was ejected by police. Police, who later traced him by his email to find out why he sent the gift, said he was not drunk or aggressive. The man, in his 30s, told officers: “I’m sure the job jades you, but please remember that not everyone has nefarious intentions.” The doughnuts were donated to the Salvation Army.

We were confused. Nobody likes coconut donuts.
