Forget you: Singer Cee Lo dropped from two concerts and TV after rape tweets

Cee Lo Green has been dropped from two concerts following his tweets about rape last week. The Grammy-winning singer, rapper and producer was scheduled to headline the Gretna Heritage Festival in Gretna, Louisiana, on Sunday, Oct. 5. Festival officials said in a news release Friday that he’ll be replaced by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. He was also dropped from a U.S. Navy-sponsored Freedom LIVE concert following his controversial tweets about rape. Organisers of the gig announced that they decided to remove the rapper from the lineup in response to the tweets.

Unfortunately, one of the performers we signed for the JBAB Freedom LIVE show recently posted comments on social media that we consider completely inconsistent with Navy core values.

Green’s new TV show, “The Good Life,” was cancelled by TBS and Time Warner on Tuesday. The singer caused a firestorm on Twitter after writing: “People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!” [sic]. He later apologised for the comments before deleting his account. The comments came after he appeared at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office on Friday and pleaded no contest to one felony count of furnishing ecstasy to a female, after she accused him of slipping her the drug without her knowledge in July 2012.
