Nine believed dead as private charter jet crashes into apartment building

Nine people are feared to have been killed after a plane crashed into an apartment building in Ohio. The small business jet was descending when it clipped an overhead wire, causing it to crash into a housing block. It then hit an embankment behind the house, setting another property on fire. The plane’s owner said two pilots and seven passengers were on board. Authorities have confirmed two deaths and say they are not expecting any survivors.

This plane just dropped out of the sky, veered and crashed into the apartment building.

The 10-seat Hawker H25 jet had taken off from Dayton and was due to land at Akron Fulton International Airport, Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Haymaker said. He confirmed that no one was inside the small brick apartment building or the other home that caught fire, and there were no known injuries on the ground. Another witness, Jesse Moon, told WEWS-TV that he was six blocks away when the plane went down and he ran over to the area. "Everything was gone,“ he said. "It looked like a bomb exploded." The cause of the crash is still unknown.
