They have been merrily hurling cheap insults at each other like a bunch of bar room brawlers. But now peace has broken out. The four Republican presidential candidates used the latest TV debate to calmly discuss their policies — a striking turnaround from the shouted insults of their previous few match-ups. With just days until make-or-break voting in the home states of two candidates, front-runner Donald Trump’s opponents may be more desperate than ever but they didn’t let it show. The only serious bone of contention appeared to be when Marco Rubio attacked Mr Trump for saying that Islam hates America. The outspoken billionaire tycoon, who is leading the race for the nomination, stood by comments he made earlier in the day when he said “Islam hates us, there’s a tremendous hatred”, and railed against political correctness. But Mr Rubio said many Muslims were proud Americans. "I’m not interested in being politically correct. I’m interested in being correct,“ he added. The next crucial vote comes on Tuesday in Florida, where one poll shows Mr Trump has a 20% lead.
