Six dead and others missing as avalanche engulfs climbers in Italian Alps

An avalanche in the Italian Alps has killed six people, while several others are missing. The accident happened on Monte Nevoso near the Austrian border and as many as 10 people could have been buried. The six people killed were attempting to climb to the summit despite there being a risk of avalanches in the area at the time. Witnesses reported seeing the group making its way to the 3,358m peak when the avalanche began. One survivor is helping rescue teams using a helicopter and dogs to find the rest of the group.
