Mexican security forces on Wednesday arrested Omar Trevino, leader of the bloody Zetas drug cartel, giving President Enrique Pena Nieto his second capture of a kingpin in less than a week. After his brother was arrested in July 2013, Morales took over as leader of Los Zetas, which is considered by the US State Department to be one of the most dangerous drug organizations in Mexico. The Zetas have been blamed for many of the bloodiest atrocities carried out by Mexican gangs in a wave of violence that has claimed over 100,000 lives since 2007.
we certainly are excited and congratulate Mexico for another great arrest.
Miguel Angel Trevino Morales
Last week Mexican authorities captured Servando “La Tuta” Gomez, head of another prominent Mexican drug cartel known as the Knights Templar. Mexican President Enrique Pe ñ a Nieto vowed to crack down on drug-trafficking organizations and their leaders after the suspected mass kidnapping and killing of 43 Mexican students and teachers by corrupt police officers in league with gang members last year.
And in this case, without doubt the strategy against the drug cartels is going well.
