A Twitter feed highlighting the work of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry has been launched. Tweets on behalf of William, Kate and Harry had been posted on existing official royal accounts but they now have their own dedicated handle: @kensingtonroyal. The account will focus on the work of the royal trio, the charities they each support and their Royal Foundation. A Kensington Palace spokeswoman said there were “no immediate plans” for the Cambridges and Harry to post tweets themselves, rather it would be used by their office.
We have of course been tweeting for some time using existing Clarence House channels and British Monarchy channels. This is an extension of that work.

The Royal Family have embraced social media in recent years, opening accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Flickr. The Duke of York is the most prolific tweeter in the family and has an account under his own name and signs off messages with AY, for Andrew York. The Queen sent the first royal tweet under her own name in October last year to declare a new Science Museum gallery open. The micro-blogging site has also been used by Prince Harry, who sent his first official tweet last May, but has admitted he no longer has an account.
The new account will continue to overlap and engage with the existing royal social media channels.
