It is now 2015. And as any movie fan who has visited the local sneaker emporium recently knows, the self-lacing Nikes depicted in Back to the Future Part II are not yet available for purchase. (The movie’s hero Marty McFly time travels from 1985 to a fictional 2015 in the movie.) There’s good news on the horizon though, because legendary sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield told a trade show audience that the Nike MAG is in development and could be ready later this year. In 2011, Nike put out a limited number of MAGs that did not include the power lacing feature, making them a very expensive and technology-free fashion statement.
