Crook comes a cropper as Crocs leave vital evidence at crime scene

Crocs plastic shoes left tread marks that helped link a man to a spate of burglaries, authorities said. The owner of one of the buildings broken into gave CCTV footage to police, who posted it on their Facebook page. Roland Huntington Grace’s name was among several mentioned by tipsters, according to authorities. Grace wore Crocs to his police interview, and the shoes matched the tread pattern found at the scene. The 22-year-old now faces charges of burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

Footprints discovered on scene showed the suspect had climbed a wall inside the plaza to gain access to the restaurant.

Among the businesses burgled were a restaurant that had $400 stolen from a cash register on April 2 and church that had about $30 stolen and several locked doors pried open. An art gallery was hit too, and $1,000 of artists’ jewellery was taken. Charging documents say Grace admitted to the burglaries and two of the missing necklaces were found in his possession.
