Samurai ghost? Photo shows mysterious boots behind girl

This photo of a 4-year-old girl on a beach in Zushi, Japan, seems innocent until you look closely behind her legs and back — a mysterious pair of boots and part of a blue shirt seem to be peeking out from behind her. The photo, uploaded to Reddit by a friend of the girl’s father, is making the rounds on Internet, and many are speculating that the photo shows a samurai ghost because the beach is across from a samurai graveyard.

Going through photos of the family trip to the beach, Martin Springall noticed what looked like boots and said he freaked out. A friend put it up on Reddit’s “Ghosts” subreddit, and theories poured in. The photo was taken on July 6, 2014.
